Victories Over Battles

Since I started my educational career, I ought to face series of struggles. Struggles, which made me strong and molded, formed and shaped me for who I am now.

At a very young age, mind, and body, I am exposed to competitions. Competitions, which I believed is already a part of our daily life. And in order for us to win the fight, we need to exert more than the things we expect already our bests. That is exactly what I did, in order for me to gain the fruit of my sacrifices.

When I was still in elementary, I have come to know the favoritisms practiced by most teachers.Unfortunately, I am always the victim. I have this classmate of mine, who is alwys the apple of the eye of our advisers. She is my rival in the highest rank in the class. It really hurts me so badly, seeing your competitor being treated specially, and always given an extra attention. But this pain never stop me from pursuing my ambition to end up every school year, with me awarded as the "first honors".

But it was when I was in grade three when I had this very unfair teacher. I didn't do anything, but to cry over my defeat. In spite of winning all the extra curricular competitions that I've joined, still those were not enough for my teacher to get impressed. I lost. And It hurts me so.

This bitterness of failure boosted me to exert more effort in studying. I promised to my parents to win back what I've lost. Thanks GOD for in the succeeding years I've made it. I became the first honors again, and I graduated as the Class Valedictorian.

Before I entered high school, I've tried taking up the High School Admission Test in DMMMSU-SLUC Laboratory High School. Luckily, I've passed the examination, but on the contrary, I was not able to spend my High life at DMMMSU, for that was also the time when my eldest sister have to enter college in a private school. I need to give in. That's why I need to enter in a regular High school in our town.

Same scenario in high school, competition is my company everyday. Favoritisms did still exist. Same competitor, but with greater and closer competition. Not only in academics, but so with extra curricular activities. I am so grateful, for in spite of having almost the teachers on the side of my competitor, I still win the battle. After four years of struggles, I am the one who delivered away a Valedictory address before those teachers who have crushed me off.

The battle doesn't stop there. During my last year in high school, I've tried taking up qualifying examinations for scholarship. Luckily, out of the two scolarships that I have applied for, I successfully passed them. And now enjoying the benifits of those scholarships. And at the same time, trying my best to maintain them.

At present, I am already a Junior student of the Institute of Computer Science of DMMMSU-SLUC. And this stage, I have already admitted that competition is already a stuff that adds up spice in life. For with this long run of studying, competition is always with me..
